MEMENTO MORI LEMC BYLAWS

+Memento Mori+

LEMC

Memento Mori
Memento Mori is Latin for "remember you must die". This phrase is a reminder to the living to live each moment of each day to the fullest. Do good for others, take care of your family and your community and simply, be someone you are proud to be. Should this be your last day on earth, did you put good into this world?

At Memento Mori LEMC, we are dedicated to our brothers and sisters. We are dedicated to our families and our communities. We will serve our communities and do everything in our power to bring good into the world. Membership in our family is earned through tests of loyalty and commitment to our mission of service and integrity. We will live each day like it’s our last, we will serve the heroes and good people of our communities to the very best of our abilities. We will always remember that tomorrow is not promised so, today is the day to make a difference.

To those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice, we thank you and we salute you! Rest easy, we’ll hold the line from here.

Founded

Memento Mori LEMC was founded in the spring of 2021 by a small group of LEOs in Minnesota. The club was molded by a group of brothers who share a passion for two wheels and the open road, as well as a passion for serving the community. Memento Mori LEMC was made official on August 21st 2021, with its original members. In February of 2022, Memento Mori became a registered Non-Profit organization. We continue to serve our communities day in and day out.

Requirements for Membership

Sec 1.

  1. – All members (with the exception of Originals) must complete a “Hangaround” period of undetermined length before you may be eligible to “Prospect” with Memento Mori LEMC.

  1. – All of Memento Mori's "Full Patch" members (FPMs), must be at a minimum age of 25. 80% of FPMs must work in Law Enforcement (Corrections, Police, Conservation, or otherwise deemed by the Executive Board) (for no less than 3 years), Or are US Military, both active or former (left in good standing) are allowed. 20% of membership as a whole, is allowed to be non-LE or Military. Members that do not have a background in LE or Military must meet all other requirements and are subject to bylaws written in Sec 1(b)(sub2).

(b)(Sub2)- Non-LE/Military FPMs. A person who does NOT have a background in LE or Military may be considered to prospect for FPM status if:

- They complete a minimum of 365 days as an Associate Member.

- They display exemplary performance and commitment to the Club and its causes

- They are willing to make a lifetime commitment to the Club

- The Executive Board agrees (in a majority vote), the member would benefit the club in a FPM status.

- The number of members with LE/Military exemption must NOT exceed 20% of the total number of full patch members in the Club as a whole. Thereof, 80% of all members must meet the requirement of LE/Military background.

-Should all of these requirements be met and the Board votes "YAY", in a "Majority Vote", the Associate member would be eligible for "Prospect" status. When a FPM decides to sponsor the Associate Member, the FPM will call for a "full chapter" vote to bring the member into "Prospect" status. This vote is a "Majority" vote of the Chapter that the Associate is a member. Should the vote pass, the Associate would then be patched in as a "Prospect" member. They must prospect for no less than 90 days, considering their 365 days as an Associate Member. Their prospecting period MUST NOT exceed 365 days without a vote being initiated for FPM. Should they reach day 366, the member will turn in all "Prospect" specific insignia and would then need to sit before the Executive Board (as well as their Chapter President) and complete a hearing to potentially be eligible to regain their Associate membership. "Prospect" status will only be allowed once to non-LE or Military persons. Should they not pass the prospecting period, they will never be eligible again. (Should the reason for no patch vote, within 365 days, be a medical or otherwise uncontrollable circumstance, the Executive Board reserves the right to extend their prospecting period.

-Any member who does NOT have a background in LE/Military, will NOT be eligible to gain the following ranks within Memento Mori LEMC: Chapter President, Executive Board (aka National) President or, Executive Board (aka National) Vice President or, National SAA. During this one year, the member may NOT hold any rank within the club (if voted in a majority national board vote, they may be able to serve as an interim rank no higher than SAA). The members wife or significant other (of more than one year), may not gain Domina Mori, or Domina Associate status, until the probationary period is complete.

Prospect: A prospect is a prospective member of the club. The prospect was chosen for a purpose by one or more full patch members and has a full patch member as a sponsor for the entirety of the prospecting period. A prospect has not yet earned the honor of wearing full club colors but has earned the honor of wearing “prospect only” clothing. All prospects must have completed hangaround status for no less than three months (Riding season) unless otherwise voted by an “all patched member” vote.

Official Hangaround: An Official hangaround is a person who has absolute intentions of prospecting with the club but can ride with the club. They may ride with the Club during any non-formal events. These individuals have passed their application process and are eligible for membership.

Domina Mori: Wives or significant others (of 1+ years) of a full patch member who has completed their one-year probationary time, may choose to gain Domina Mori status. Domina Mori's (DMs) do NOT have voting rights within the club. They may obtain Domina Mori specific clothing. Should the FPM and the Domina split, all Domina insignia must be returned in a timely fashion.
